Why does the value of my horse change so often?

The value of the horse simply reflects the amount of shows the horse has been in, and can change with the placings in the shows in which the horse takes place. The more Show Champions (SC) and Best in Shows (BIS) the horse has, the greater the written value on the horse's page.  The more "Other" placings a horse has, the less the value in dollars.

Value can also tell the owner the circuit the training level (ages 2-3) horse is in. Training level horses never show the grade level because Training Level is the grade.

$0 - $99,999 = C Circuit
$100,000 - $199,999 = B Circuit
$200,000 - $499,999 = A Circuit
$500,000 - $999,999 = Grand Prix Circuit
$1,000,000+ = Olympic Circuit

Does the value really tell me what my horse is worth?

This is up to the player. Most players on the game will not even look at the value to see what the horse is worth. Many players look at the rank, show results, and how well the horse has shown. Again, the value is basically to tell the owner what circuit (grade) the horse is in.
