Correctly Using HTML Tags
October 2, 2017 08:42:10 AM

How many of you ee names with some sort of Superscript or Subscript, Bold, Italics, Underlining, or even Color?

Is that so bad? Actually, no it's not. In fact, it makes one's account look different from others. I have color in my name, and I know there are other players too w/ color definition. Thing is, if one does not completely close the "tags" of the special font, then there are pages that get messed up.

There are player's names with unclosed tags that mess up the club's main page. On my computer, most of the font under [some] club[s] is small. It might not be like that on your computer, but if you don't have your tags closed, it could mess up some people's pages.

So What's a Tag?

Well, in simple terms, it's the start and end of a special command in HTML programming. <*b> and <*/b> are start and end tags of bold print. (The asterisk's are necessary in posts like this so you can see the actual tag.) If the closing tags do not have the slanted line "/" then the tag isn't closed, and that helps to "mess up" people's pages.

So, if you have tags in your player name, or your horse's name, PLEASE make sure they're closed properly. If you're having trouble editing the horse's name, you may have to reset the name using this link: help which can be found under the club's link on the main menu page.

To help you with the most common tags used on WOSE, you may use these, just take out the asterisk ( the * ) before submitting.

<*b>bold<*/b>

<*i>italic<*/i>

<*u>underline<*/u>

<*font color=red>Name<*/font>

<*sup>Superscript<*/sup>

<*sub>Subscript<*/sub>

A good place to see the available HTML color codes is Here at december.com (this is a link, btw) I have this link saved as a bookmark so I can reference it quickly when I need a color!

(Two tags that actually do NOT need the "/" are <*p> and <*br>. The "p" is for next paragraph, and the "br" is for next line. These are good to use in GM's when you want a new paragraph or just go to the next line. Otherwise, your information that you send in a GM will get all jumbled.)

**Remember to ALWAYS CLOSE YOUR TAGS**
