AUTUMN
Along with the twenty-second of September
Comes the crisp, cool breezes of fall.
The apples ripen, the leaves turn red,
The windows open, but that's not all.
Out come the sweaters,
In go the shorts.
Out go the children
In merry cohorts.
Leaves are raked up,
Hot cider brewed,
Everyone seems to enjoy
An improved mood!
The crunching of leaves
In the still, silent forest
Remind of the blessings
God's laid before us.
The pumpkins turn orange,
Children dream of warm pies;
The light of the hearth
Glows bright in their eyes.
The ending of summer,
And the beginning of winter
Yes, Autumn, do come!
Come forth and enter.
