The first rule for me is make sure your horse is similar in RANK AND GRADE (not just one or the other) before you request a breeding. GM me first, don't just randomly request. I often give new players an opportunity to breed, if they have been showing consistantly, and I see a real effort on their part to improve and play, and they have horses that I raise. Suggestion: If you are requesting to breed to one of my hanoverians: instead of specifying I want to breed to XXX, give me your horse's stats - (name, acct #, rank, grade, gender, age, and showing record) and let me choose a partner for him or her.
Trusted breeders? I don't keep a list. It isn't worth my time to change who is "trusted" with how often people quit and change their herds around.
One tip: don't cheat me. I can forgive errors but deliberately cheating is something I find it very very hard to forgive and forget.
